This listing is for a 108 bead sandalwood mala for meditation with a dorje. The dorje, or vajra in Sanskrit, is composed of two symbols, both the thunderbolt (symbolizing irresistible force) and the diamond (symbolizing indestructibility). Often used in unison with a bell during meditation, the dorje symbolizes the male principle and is held in the right hand while the bell represents the female principle and is held in the left hand.
Prayer mala or beads are often used in Tibet, Nepal, and India by Buddhists for meditation, counting mantras, and prostration. Malas are worn on the left wrist while not in use. Please email me for more detail and I will be more than happy to assist you.
