This listing is for a copper Tibetan om pendant locket with waxed cord. This pendant measures approximately 0.5 inches. Amulet boxes in Tibet are called ga'u. Ga'us were traditionally used by both men and women to hold buddhist relics or blessings and served almost as a portable shrine for when one is traveling. In Tibetan Buddhism, "Om" is the supreme and most sacred syllable, consisting in Sanskrit of three sounds (A, U, M) representing body, speech, mind and other various fundamental triads. Om is believed to be the spoken essence of the universe; it is often understood as symbolizing the true "empty" character of reality, as that truth has been communicated by various historical Buddhas. These pendants are handmade in Kathmandu, Nepal.
