Welcome to Hands of Tibet — a Tibetan-owned family business rooted in culture, compassion, and tradition.

What began as a small hobby run from a closet in our tiny apartment has, over fifteen years, grown into a thriving online business supporting artisan families in Nepal, India, and Bali with fair and sustainable wages. We are deeply grateful to share meaningful handmade goods that carry intention and heritage in every detail.

Our Founder

The seeds of Hands of Tibet were planted long ago in Lhasa, Tibet.

Tenzin Norbu grew up in the historic Bharkor district of Lhasa, the son of a Newari trader from Nepal and a Tibetan mother. As a third-generation trader, he spent his childhood helping at his father’s market booth, learning the value of craftsmanship, honesty, and community.

After the passing of both parents, Tenzin left home at seventeen and journeyed across the Himalayas to India. He became a Tibetan monk and spent ten years in monastic practice and study. Later, while teaching at a monastery outside Kathmandu, he met his wife Robyn. They married in 2001 and eventually settled on the Big Island of Hawaii, inspired by its natural beauty and spirit of diversity.
